Session 5: Tempo + Sprints & Bunch Rotation
Friday 14th Nov 6:00 am to 7:00 am - Meet at Heffron Park
This session blends aerobic endurance with sprint efforts and group riding skills. Riders will complete two 12-minute blocks at Zone 3, each incorporating three 15-second sprints, alongside paceline rotation practice. Handling drills include one-handed riding—such as drinking, signalling, and reaching into pockets—and mastering cornering lines with proper apex entry and exit. From a physiological perspective, tempo work boosts aerobic endurance, while sprints enhance the ability to surge and recover. The session builds rider confidence in bunch scenarios, teaching smooth rotations, effective communication, and safe wheel-holding techniques.
