RIDE FOR A REASON

Since 2007, SCC’s Ride for a Reason (R4R) has been one of Sydney’s most challenging charity rides for experienced cyclists and we have raised over $425,000 for a variety of wonderful charities and causes including including The Black Dog Institute, The McGrath Foundation, Father Chris Riley’s Youth off the Streets, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Parkinson’s NSW, Lifeline, CanTeen, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, The Garvan Institute for Cancer Research, Cure Brain Cancer and Freedom Wheels.

THE RIDE

On Saturday 8 February 2020, R4R is heading for Broke in the beautiful Hunter Valley and our Reason is Freedom Wheels. The ride will be an undulating 165km through spectacular scenery finishing at fabulous vineyard where you will be rewarded with a special gourmet Finish Feast at Nigtingale Wines. It is a one way route so you can make a weekend of it and stay in the Hunter or take advantage of the organised transport back to Sydney.

THE REASON

This year we will be riding for Freedom Wheels. This charity enables children with disabilities to ride a bike when it was never thought possible. Many of these children cannot walk but with the help of Freedom Wheels they can ride. Every person deserves the chance to ride a bike. The Freedom Wheels service provides customised bikes that meet the individual needs of the person.  Freedom Wheels builds confidence, independence and improvement in health through bike riding.

Read more about how they are using the funds raised by SCC R4R participants here.

Once registered, all participants are welcome to join these SCC training rides which depart from the Spruce Goose. Details of the rides will be shared via R4R Facebook page, the Team app and the SCC calendar
